STUDENT EXCHANGE PROGRAM IN SMILTENE
On the last week of May, we hosted several students from the Spanish city Malága, the Austrian city Telfs and the Turkish city Mersin. We met some new people as well as reunited with old friends.
From the very first day, the foreigners were very interested in the Latvian nature - everywhere you look, everything's green, there's forests, gardens, trees everywhere... We were happy that they were so intrigued with our nature - we pride ourselves upon it. But, of course, we tried to show them not only our nature, but also our culture.
Everyday there was something interesting to do - we orienteered around the lake Teperis, the Old Park and Kalnamuiža; later relaxed at the lake Teperis complex; cycled to lake Niedrājs; went on a road trip to Estonia - the Tartu Ahhaa science center, where we saw an exhibition about the human body (from real human body parts!); at school we learned about cells and saw them up close; participated in various sports activities; and of course, did fun stuff in our own families. But obviously, we also worked on robots; simultaneously painted! - the theme was theme parks, so we built robots based off constructions that you'd see in a theme park.
